We said yes! 🥳 We’re thrilled to announce that after a 6-month test period, we unanimously decided to permanently transition to a 4-day workweek at Weglot, and we want to tell you all about it! 🤩👇🏼 This decision has been a long time in the making as it aligns perfectly with our co-founders, Augustin Prot and Rémy Berda’s vision to create a workplace that prioritizes employee health and well-being. ⭐️ Weglot had a 100% employee retention rate (post-trial period), even in the past 3 years prior to the experiment, thanks to our co-founders’ and People & Culture Manager Meryl Csibra’s ongoing efforts. 🙌 So having their endless support and encouragement along the way has been a huge factor in making this transition a success. Because as rewarding as this new rhythm is, it requires lots of open communication, flexibility, and of course, trust in each other. And with new challenges comes new learnings. 💪🏻 The top benefits for us are: 🤝 Increased productivity & collaboration ⏱️ Optimized time management 🎨 More creativity 🤩 Enhanced job satisfaction 👐🏻 Greater gender equality 💙 More time to recharge, pursue personal interests, and spend time with our loved ones. But let’s also talk about some of the downsides: ⏳ Adjusting to schedule transitions: To be available to our customers and external partners throughout the week, we alternated our off days between Wednesdays and Fridays. This was the most challenging aspect to adjust to and it required us to improve our time management skills. 😰 Potential challenges with workload distribution: Having an extra day allows employees to afford and make up for lost time that can be caused by various reasons. Therefore, reduced time may put extra requirements on employees to deliver work on a shorter period. So how did we evaluate the pros & cons and decide to make this transition? We held bi-weekly surveys to check in with each member to ensure the new schedule met their expectations and improved their work experience. ✅ Throughout the experiment, we observed improvements in all aspects and in the final survey, we unanimously decided to keep this rhythm! 🥁 We’ll keep on sharing more about our experience in the hopes that our initiative inspires others to consider challenging traditional work mandates that might not serve everyone in modern work life. 🚀
